Youth Alive! Kenya has undergone a vigorous process which included an electoral process and more so capacity building to become the project regional coordinator.
Tackling Poverty Together (TPT) project envisages inculcating a youth perspective in poverty reduction. The project seeks to highlight and strengthen young people’s role in development policies in general and poverty reduction strategies (PRSP). The project is now in its second phase-transition phase where the project is being handed over from National Council of Swedish Youth Organizations (LSU) to Youth Alive! Kenya (YAK).
Key aim of the project is to build the capacity, skills, and resources available within the participating country teams so as to engage in processes related to PRSPs. Main components of the project include an electronic learning course (e-course) that took place over a three-month period from January to March 2009,several regional workshops in different participating countries and a project steering committee setup to link the regional coordinator with the different country teams.
The participating countries include Kenya, Ghana, Malawi, Zambia, Liberia, Uganda, Zimbabwe and Tanzania. The project is funded by SIDA through LSU and Forum Syd.
