Empowering young people therefore requires an economic and social base, political will, adequate resources and a supportive legal and administrative framework, a stable environment of equality, peace and democracy. Mission, Vision and Values

Youth Alive! Kenya is a national independent youth-led non-profit and non-governmental organisation committed to the empowerment of young people in Kenya to take active responsibility for their lives to shape their destiny. Youth Alive! Kenya is founded on a vision of a free, just and equitable world where young people are able to translate their aspirations and potential into productive and fulfilling life. To this end, our mission is to provide a platform where young people and their communities share skills and explore innate abilities towards lasting development. Working in core areas of Health, Justice & Human Rights, Democracy & Governance, and Environment & Livelihoods, we facilitate learning and innovation through partnerships, research, advocacy and public education.

Organs and Structure

Youth Alive! Kenya is a model initiative and a demonstration of the Youth Alive! Kenya comprises two key organs – Executive Board & Secretariat. The Executive Board as the governing organ of Youth Alive! Kenya is responsible for all activities of the organisation. The Board makes executive decisions regarding the operations of the organisation. The Board currently comprises seven young professionals drawn from diverse backgrounds.

The Executive Board members are each responsible for a development component of Youth Alive! Kenya namely: Institutional Governance, Leadership Development, and Financial Sustainability & Self Reliance. The secretariat comprises the working office and handles day-to-day operations with a median age of 24 years and is currently a three-tier structure of Programmes, Partnerships & Institutional Development, and Finance & Administration. The Departments are supported by qualified staff and periodic interns and volunteers.
